How I work
Guidance you can act on, and keep.
I work the way I would want a senior partner to work with me: direct, unhurried in judgement, quick in delivery, and honest about what I don’t know.
Principles
Understand before building
The first job is to see the problem clearly — the real one, not the one that is easy to state. I spend the early time listening, mapping, and reading the system as it actually is, so the work that follows is aimed at the right thing.
Name the trade-offs out loud
There is rarely a single right answer, only trade-offs with different costs. I make them explicit — what each choice buys, what it forecloses — so the decision is yours to make with eyes open, and written down so it survives the meeting.
Small, honest steps
I would rather prove something in two weeks than promise it in six months. Work moves in increments you can see and judge, which keeps risk visible and lets us change course while it is still cheap to.
Leave you able to carry it
The measure of good consulting is what remains after I go. I document decisions, mentor your people, and avoid building anything that only I can maintain. You should end more capable, not more dependent.
A typical engagement
01
Orient
A focused conversation to understand the goal, the constraints, and what “done” looks like.
02
Diagnose
I look at the real system, data, and options — and come back with a clear read, not a sales pitch.
03
Decide
We choose a direction together, with the trade-offs on the table and written into a decision record.
04
Deliver
Work in visible increments — build, review, adjust — until the outcome is real and yours.
The goal is never to make you need me. It’s to leave you seeing your own decisions more clearly.
Let’s talk about where you’re headed.
Tell me what you’re building or where you’re stuck. I read every message myself.
