I’m Bijin Johnson.
I’m a technical and business consultant based in Adelaide, South Australia. I spend my days in the space between what a business wants and what technology can actually do — helping founders and teams make the calls that are costly to get wrong.
The short version
My background runs across software engineering, architecture, and the messier work of turning technical capability into business outcomes. I’ve built systems, led teams, prototyped ideas under pressure, and sat in the rooms where the hard technical decisions get made — often as the person translating between the founders and the engineers.
That range is deliberate. The problems worth hiring an outside mind for rarely sit neatly inside one discipline. They live where product strategy meets system design, where an AI experiment meets a real budget, where a growing team meets its first hard scaling decision. That’s where I do my best work.
I work with startups, SMEs, and non-profits — a deliberately broad set, because good judgement travels. What stays constant is the way I work: understand first, name the trade-offs, move in honest steps, and leave you more capable than I found you.
What drives it
The name NCH is not an accident, and it’s the most honest thing on this site. It comes from the Hebrew root נחה (nachah) — “to lead, to guide” — and behind it sits a conviction I hold personally: that I am led, and that the guidance I offer others flows from being guided myself.
That belief shapes the practice more than any methodology does. It’s why I’d rather tell you the truth than win the engagement, why I care that you can carry the work after I leave, and why I keep room for organisations doing good with thin resources.

Simon has stuck with me because it names the real scarcity. Most teams aren’t short of information or options — they’re short of the attention to choose well among them. A lot of what I do is protect that attention for the few decisions that actually move things.
